Picture of the Week, June 20, 2013

Michael Cairns' photo of Chase Padgett for the show, Six Guitars, opening this week at the Ottawa Fringe, is so good it provokes us into saying something nasty: it doesn't look "Fringe". The choices both photographer and performer have made (particularly about the clothing worn) throw a bright light on what the show is ostensibly about: guitars and the talented hands of the soloist. That Padgett is balancing the damn thing on his chin is just gravy; suggesting that the production is going to be fun.
