Review: (Toronto) Hey '90s Kids, You're Old (Fringe)

Gotta Catch ‘Em All!

If you were a kid in the 90s - and by that I mean Babysitters Club Books, the Backstreet Boys, and the wellbeing of your Tamagotchi were a part of your very existence- you MUST go see Hey ‘90s Kids, You’re Old!

Like, now.

The entire sketch show is one giant reference to everything that was cool about growing up in the 90s. And it’s hilarious! From a Power Ranger named Pam to a Law&Order sketch where the victim is found covered in PVA glue, you’re laughing the whole way through. And even if you were a child moons before the, ahem, best decade ever, you’ll still have a great time. The actors have comedic talent like I had Polly Pockets. Aka a lot! A special shout out to Alexander Steele Zonjic for his superb dance skills, and to Samantha Adams and Sundance Nagrial for their rendition of Dawson Creek’s theme song. Both made me overly happy in my Beanie Baby heart tag. Likewise, writer/director Taryn Parrish is the bomb. Her sketches are original, clever, and totally capture the essence of ‘90s.

So strap your bones right to the seat, come on in and don’t be shy, get yourself to St. Vladamir’s Theatre. It’s all the nostalgia your inner ‘90s kid has been searching for!
