This magnificent photo by Nir Baraket of Jon de Leon in Nina Aquino's Every Letter Counts, at Factory Theatre, qualifies as both scintillating photography and theatre photography (not always the same thing). It is a triumph of geometry (right down to the thin slivers of light behind the actor), it is brilliant in its use of negative space, and the shadow cast is precisely the right size for the trapezium on the floor. Moreover, it tells a story: the figure is not held in an empty space; barely visible on the wall to both sides of him are pictures which suggest they, too, have a part in the tale.
