In a recent interview, photog par excellence Michael Cooper reminded us, "drama unfolds in a photograph with what you don’t light, rather than with what you do light." In this gorgeous David Hou shot from Canadian Stage's Tribes, we can see that dictum iterated in spades. Stephen Drabicki (foreground) and the expression on his face tells a story - but what is the counterpoint of that story - Dylan Trowbridge in the background - whom Hou has allowed to be even more obscured by artfully controlled blur.
