Vancouver International Dance Festival Announces
Vast & Varied 2014 Line-up

Tickets On Sale Today for Beloved Annual Event Featuring 
International Dance Greats Alongside Local Luminaries
Vancouver, BC – The Vancouver International Dance Festival (VIDF) proudly announces its extraordinary 2014 Festival Season: a globe-spanning roster of artists and creators who take to the city’s stages from March 7 to 29, 2014. The festival features a diverse array of international icons, including China’s Guangdong Modern Dance Company and Spain’s flamenco innovator Israel Galván, coupled with local favourites Dancers Dancing, the 605 Collective, among many others. Tickets for all VIDF events are on sale today by visiting VIDF.ca.

“VIDF exists to celebrate and explore dance in its enriching and endlessly fascinating incarnations,” says Barbara Bourget, Artistic Director. “This season’s programming realizes this purpose in the most brilliant manner - perhaps more so than any other season - by drawing master practitioners who represent a vast range of geographic place and distinguished artistic form. We are truly delighted to share these astounding cultural experiences with Lower Mainland audiences.”

2014 Vancouver International Dance Festival highlights, include:

Guangdong Modern Dance Company with the Goh Ballet:  Select Works/Mustard Seed
Vancouver Playhouse: March 7, 8pm
China’s first professional modern dance company collides with Vancouver’s-own internationally acclaimed, award-winning Goh Ballet to present a world premiere collaboration, as well as mixed repertoire from each of the renowned companies.

Par B.L.eux:  Snakeskins
Roundhouse Performance Centre: March 13, 14 & 15, 8pm
This multimedia and poly-sensorial performance sees Montreal-based choreographer Benoît Lachambre joined on stage by dancer Daniele Albanese and musician Hahn Rowe in a provoking meditation on new growth through the shedding of old skin.

Yui Kawaguchi and Aki Takase: Cadenza – Die Stadt im Klavier V
Roundhouse Performance Centre: March 21 & 22, 8pm
Based out of Berlin, Germany, the dancer/pianist duo and longtime collaborators intertwine energy and invention through their fifth impromptu encounter between the languages of movement and music. 

Israel Galván: La Edad de Oro
Vancouver Playhouse: March 22 & 23, 8pm
Known as an avant-garde force in Spain, Israel Galván is a daring and critically lauded flamenco dancer known for his singular and stripped down contemporary approach to the form.

Montréal Danse: S’envoler
Roundhouse Performance Centre: March 27-29, 8pm
An audacious tour-de-force from Montréal choreographer Estelle Clareton, the work imagines a collision between the human world and that of birds where migration becomes a means of exploring the courage and strength required for change and transformation.

The festival also features a variety of FREE-for-MEMBER performances (Membership cost: $3) in the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall throughout the month of March.
