Photographer David Cooper tells a lovely - and lovingly told - story with this pic for The Light in the Piazza at the Shaw Festival. Jacqueline Thair and Jeff Irving, among the displaced bedsheets, are clearly engaged in a peri-coital kiss but despite the "pornos" of it all there is also the "eros" of the way Irving holds Thair's face. Moreover, Cooper has captured lighting which both perfectly illuminates the couple (no thrown shadow is out of place) while revealing the figure in the background (Margaret Johnson) - which makes this a tale that goes beyond an embrace.
