News: (Edmonton) Citadel Launches BIIIIIIIG 2012-13 season

Outside of Stratford and Shaw, Citadel is probably the only house in the country that could launch a season as huge as its upcoming one - but (as Liz Nicholls at the Edmonton Journal noted) even at the venerable Edmonton venue they are cutting back the number of shows in the season (from eleven to eight).

But what is there is big - if not all Broadway-big then definitely exciting-big. Like MTC, they are bringing in the touring production of Ride The Cyclone but their involvement in musical theatre does not end there. They are also mounting a mammoth production of the Monty Python musical Spamalot as well as their annual Christmas Carol.

Wisely, Citadel is also co-pro-ing with Theatre Calgary and MTC with A few Good Men, Next to Normal and The Kite Runner. But they will offer an in-house Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood (oft-produced in Canada in the last year) and Private Lives by Noel Coward.

See the entire season at the Citadel website.
