The Canada Council has announced the winners of this year's Governor General's Awards.
In the drama category, best French-language play went, for the third time, to Normand Chaurette for Ce qui meurt en dernier, a psychological drama, created at Espace Go in Montreal. In the English-language category Erin Shields nabbed the prize for If We Were Birds, a reimagining of the Ovid myth, originally presented at SummerWorks in Toronto and subsequently at Tarragon. Well known theatrical translator, Maryse Warda, won for best English-French text for Greg MacArthur's The Toxic Bus Incident.
