Let's talk about both photo and content because this week we'd like to draw your attention not only to Joanna Akyol's wonderfully rendered image from Falsettos, but also to its subject, actor Michael Levinson. This is not the first time we have featured Ms Akyol's work. We especially liked one shot she did for Craigslist Cantata. As we said then, as we say here: she has captured that moment when blocking, lighting and text come together. This shot, however, puts the young actor in brilliant, thrilling prominence - even the baseball bat is in sharp relief. (That is a detail, yes, but it says everything about that magic captured moment). Meanwhile, Mr. Levinson is now garnering attention with his performances notably here (read our review) and in last year's Caroline, or change from the same company, Acting Up (read that review and see Ms Akyol's photo for that as well). What we are suggesting is that Ms Akyol's photos of this particular performer may become - beyond their aesthetic worth - important theatrical documents.
