True Love Lies, Brad Fraser's play about the past, regret and the family, is opening this week at two different theatres: ATP, in Calgary, and Touchstone in Vancouver. To prep: read Fraser's fascinating piece about his experiences with censorship.
Quebec City's Capitole plays host to a touring production of La Cage aux Folles; it's not the musical, it's The Birdcage, it is not the terrific movie from France, it is the terrifically funny play which gave birth to them all. Benoit Brière plays Albin (reportedly brilliantly), ably supported by Alain Zouvi.

In the middle of it all, The COC begins its new season with a difficult Gluck opera, Iphegenia in Tauris, in a very modern production brought in from the States (it's a co-pro with the Lyric in Chicago, San Francisco Opera and the Royal Opera House). Susan Graham and Katherine Whyte alternate the lead.
