News: (Toronto) Kendra Fry (GM) steps down from Theatre Passe Muraille (Press release)

KENDRA FRY STEPS DOWN FROM THEATRE PASSE MURAILLE
After four successful years as General Manager of Theatre Passe Muraille, Kendra Fry is stepping down to take up the new role of Managing Director at Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre in December 2013.

While at Theatre Passe Muraille, Kendra’s commitment to new work development included 19 Theatre Passe Muraille productions, 14 collaborative productions and five Buzz Festivals. During this time Theatre Passe Muraille has celebrated three years in surplus. She also spearheaded upgrades to the building and its theatres. This included the replacement of the roof, the installation of a building wide HVAC and a new state of the art lighting system in both theatre spaces.

Andy McKim, Artistic Director of Theatre Passe Muraille said,

“Kendra has been an invaluable friend and colleague. I have learned so much from her profound commitment to our vision of Theatre Passe Muraille. I will miss her dearly. But I am also happy that she will be going to a marvelous job. One where she will get a chance to express all of her many talents, working with a mandate that includes not only the arts but also faith and justice. This is important work.”

“I’m very proud of what Andy and I have accomplished, and it’s bittersweet to be leaving,” said Kendra. “Having first worked here as an Assistant Stage Manager in 1999, I’ve always considered Passe Muraille to be a home. At the same time, I’m glad to be leaving on such a high note with two critically acclaimed and extremely popular productions, On The Rocks by Louise Pitre andCrash by Pamela Mala Sinha. I can’t wait to come back and see how Andy’s vision will play out.”

Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts, is home to a vibrant United Church congregation as well as anchor tenant Tafelmusik. It is used by over 50 community groups, from dance classes to a Montessori school. Unveiled earlier this month, renovations have revamped their sanctuary into a beautiful concert hall, improving seating and acoustics to create an unparalleled experience.

The Board of Directors for Theatre Passe Muraille has begun the search for the new General Manager, and is accepting applications until November 1, 2013. Candidates can apply by email to Vice President of the Board and Chair of the Nominating Committee, Diana Belshaw at diana.belshaw@humber.ca.
