Openings We're Tracking This Week, July 2-8, 2012

The Boyz (photo by Emily Cooper)

Lordie! it's summer and we love it and the fare is just terrific everywhere. Especially at Arts Club where they are presenting Altar Boyz. Yup, a musical - not about what you think (lighten up, people!) and full of satirical, light-hearted, Praiz the Lord! It's been a hit before, it'll be a hit again. (Vancouver)

My Name is Asher Lev was a Chaim Potok book everyone read, back when. It is now a play which holds true to the story of a young artist who must find the perfect balance between what his heart is singing and the traditions he was born to uphold. (Rosebud, Alberta)

Another nice trip, another good summer play. Murder in Noirville is by Peter Colley, a star in the fun-theatre firmament. (If you don't know his I'll Be Back Before Midnight...shame on you!) Colley adds a comic touch so you get your Agatha Christie meets...well, a little summer silliness. (Orillia, Ontario)
