Circle Mirror Transformation, at GCTC this week, sounds terrifying. It's an acting class (just that gives us the willies), an acting exercise, and then all hell breaks loose. Annie Baker's drama takes the characters and the audience through catharsis. (Ottawa)

A Man and Some Women is such a deliciously modern title that Githa Sowerby's play could be a Fringe work, but it is a period piece about a man, his wife, two sisters and the questions of power (or lack of it) surrounding his being everyone's provider. Shaw Fest has presented two other of the recently rediscovered early twentieth century (female) playwright's works with great success, and promises a hit with this one as well. (Niagara-on-the-Lake)

The absolutely brilliant central image of the Little
Theatre's poster art.

The Laramie Project is not so much about the martyrdom of Matthew Shepard, the young Gay man who was crucified on a fence and left to die, but about how the town of Laramie had to cope with the unpleasant notoriety of the event. Guelph Little Theatre is going into some dark territory.
